Open Front Bird Box

A traditional, hand-built wooden nesting box designed for robins and other open-front nesting garden birds, providing a sheltered and secure place to nest and raise their young.

Unlike enclosed nest boxes, this design features a wide open front, giving species that prefer more accessible nesting sites the type of space they naturally favour.

Each box is made from solid timber and glued and nailed for strength and durability, making it suitable for year-round outdoor use.

The liftable roof provides easy access for emptying and cleaning the box at the end of the nesting season, while a discreet magnet keeps the lid securely closed during normal use.

Children’s Build Your Own Kit

Turn your new open-front bird box into a fun and educational project with our Children’s Build Your Own Kit.

Everything needed to build the box is included. All timber pieces come pre-cut and clearly marked, so there’s no measuring or sawing required. Nails are provided, together with full, easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions to help children assemble their own nesting box with adult supervision.

Once finished, they’ll have a proper, usable wooden nest box to put up in the garden — and the satisfaction of knowing they built it themselves.

Every Slate House Farm bird box is made to order rather than mass-produced or held in stock. Please allow up to 10 working days for your box to be made and prepared before dispatch.

As our boxes are made from real timber, the grain, knots and natural character of the wood will vary from box to box, making each one unique.
