Slate House Farm is a small, traditional farm nestled in the heart of Lincolnshire.

Our aim is to become fully off-grid and self-sufficient—growing our own food, generating our own power, and raising livestock with care and respect. Every day is a step closer to a more independent and regenerative way of life.

As passionate stewards of this traditional British breed, we focus on ethical breeding practices that protect its genetic diversity and promote its future. Each pig we raise is a step towards safeguarding the OSB’s heritage—valuing its docile nature, hardy constitution, and exceptional pork. For us, conservation isn’t just a mission—it’s a responsibility we honour every day on the farm.

We’ve created dedicated spaces for nature to thrive—from wildflower gardens that support bees and butterflies, to nesting boxes for birds and hedgehog hideaways. Every corner of the farm is designed to welcome biodiversity, encouraging a natural balance that benefits both the land and the creatures who share it with us. For us, farming and wildlife go hand in hand—because a healthy farm is a wild one too.

Our Flock of Sheep

We’ve carefully chosen a selection of Mules for their hardy nature, good mothering instincts, and versatility. Well-suited to our mixed farming setup, they thrive on pasture and play a key role in our aim for self-sufficiency—providing both meat and wool. Every lambing season is a reminder of the care, planning, and connection that comes with raising animals the traditional way.
