Our Oxford Sandy Black Pigs
At Slate House Farm, we’ve proudly bred Oxford Sandy and Black pigs since 2011, committed to preserving this rare and heritage breed. Our small but carefully managed breeding herd consists of six sows and boars from the Jack, Sybil, and Lady bloodlines, offering strong genetics and excellent temperament.
Often affectionately known as the “plum pudding pig” thanks to their distinctive colouring, the Oxford Sandy and Black is one of the oldest native pig breeds in the UK. With roots tracing back over 200 years, this hardy breed was traditionally kept on small farms for its excellent mothering ability, docile nature, and high-quality pork. Today, the OSB remains a favourite among smallholders and conservation breeders alike.
As dedicated breeders, we maintain a year-round farrowing schedule to ensure a consistent supply of healthy, well-socialised piglets. Whether you’re seeking weaners for rearing, potential breeding stock, or simply want to learn more about this remarkable breed, we’re here to help.

Our pigs are reared outdoors with access to plenty of space, natural forage, and a calm, enriched environment. This not only supports their wellbeing but produces strong, resilient pigs well-suited to a variety of settings. We take pride in contributing to the survival of this breed through responsible selection and conservation breeding.
