72 hours and counting

Tags :

Hello, and welcome to out first blog on Slate House Farm, we’re not quite there yet, but less that 72 hours and we will be at our new home starting our new life as smallholders. It’s amazing to think we’re almost there given the rollercoster we’ve been on to get this far. Stranger still, just over a year ago, 53.5weeks to be precise, I attendend an introduction to smallholders course at South Yeo Farm West in Devon.

The course run by Debbie Kingsley (@southyeofarm on twitter, www.southyeofarmwest.co.uk) was a great insight in to the world of running a smallholding. One of the first questions asked as the group of us met and introduced ourselves was “Why are you here? Do you have plans to buy a small holding?” At the time buying a smallholding wasn’t even on the cards, more the start of a pipe dream.

Looking back now I’m amazed we’re here and actually doing it, the reality is a full array of emotion from frightening anxiety to total elation.

I do hope you continue to read our blog and share our journey as we move to the countryside in Lincolnshire. More information on us can be found at https://slatehousefarm.co.uk or sign up/in to twitter and follow @slatehousefarm.

Until next time 🙂

Hoping this short video of the ewes and lambs brings a smile given what's going on.

Productive night lambing. Single pedigree Hebridean ram lamb last night, and twin pedigree Hebridean ram lambs at sunrise. All doing well. 6 down 10 to go :)
